Dilijan is a town in Armenia known for its spectacular scenery, clean air and historic monasteries. Tim Flynn Architects is helping to develop a masterplan which focuses primarily on improving housing and bringing tourism into the area, regenerating this picturesque town into a vibrant focal point on the Armenian map. Our long-term goal is to enable Dilijan to build on its multi-cultural heritage in a sustainable and organic way, so that it will appeal to local, regional and international communities. Plans to enhance Dilijan’s natural habitat and cultural flavour include redevelopment along the local river bank which will comprise new areas of public realm for people to meet, eat and socialize; improved waste management and water recycling systems; collaborative events with the new UWC Dilijan College ( designed by Tim Flynn Architects) for increased performance and festival opportunities; as well as building new state-of-the-art infrastructure which will boost the town and local economy, bringing additional benefits in sustainability and employment.
