Each boarding house constructed during Phase 1 of the school consists of four quadrants, with a central common courtyard. Each quadrant accommodates approximately 40 students, including accommodation in-house for staff (house ‘parent’ or tutor). The configurations of student accommodation being either four students per room with common toilet facilities or two students per room with shared ensuite and bathroom facilities.
The design of each boarding house creates a village-like atmosphere and utilises the steep topography of the site. The striking presence of the location allows for interesting spaces to be created and spectacular mountain views. Local construction methods and materials using a selection of Armenian stone and timber have been installed along with traditional clay tiled roofs to give a typical Dilijan feel.
