Both gatehouses in these large Russian residential estates function as entrance lodges while also providing generator and storage capabilities for the wider estate. They exist also to provide 24-hour living accommodation for guests and staff when required.

Both buildings, although with a modern aesthetic, reference the traditional Russian styles. They are designed to have minimal intervention on the surrounding landscape and nestle comfortably into their rural and forest settings alike. Clad using larch timber sourced from sustainable Siberian forests they provide maximum efficiency for heating in the cold winter months.

Upon completion, Tim Flynn Architects was involved with the internal finishing of the projects which included interior design, and furniture design and manufacture specific elements of the projects. Kitchen and marble works were designed and crafted in the UK, installed under the direction of our Moscow office.
